Although the skies where
a bit dark on this Sunday morning and the weather
reports where calling for rain all afternoon and into
the night we still made the trip out to Ft. Smallwood.
As the club registered their cars and parked in our
spots we kept wondering about the rain. It began to
look like it was going to clear up and be a nice day.
As the day went on there where a few activities that
we found ourselves in the middle of. Bikini contest
was one of the most interesting. Not so much for the
girls that where dancing around but the fact that
as soon as we got up to the stage the skies opened
up and it began to pour. Everyone was soaking wet,
there wasn’t a dry place to be found. Not to
mention that this was a beach and that means a lot
of sand. Wet-sand and wet-bodies don’t mix.
After making it back to the tent we all decided that
we could fit 10 people under the tent along w/ others
from different car clubs in exchange for some “sustenance.”
The judging moved along faster then we had expected
and the show ended early due to rain. But you know
even though we where all soaked we just couldn’t
bear to get any more wet. So before the awards started
VI took it upon themselves to carry the EZ-UP tent
to the awards. By this time the rain had stopped and
we looked like idiots, although many people thought
it was a good idea.
As
the awards went on, and on, and on we finally got
to (Derrick’s, Tara’s, and Tony’s).
Yes they were all in the same class! Tony got 2nd
and Tara first. We then realized it wasn’t a
complete rain out after all. The day was long, wet,
and sandy but in the long run it wasn’t that
bad of a day. Taking home 2 trophies and learned that
“sustenance” isn’t worth being stuck
under a tent with 10 people.
